If your child needs braces, they have options. Gone are the days when you only had metal braces to choose from. See your child’s choices between new and traditional braces in Las Vegas.

What Are the Options for Braces?

There are four main types of braces: lingual, ceramic, traditional, and Invisalign. Each one has its own unique benefits and drawbacks.

So, when should you choose traditional braces in Las Vegas? Let’s start with your child’s needs.

What Are Your Child’s Needs?

Determining which type of braces is best for your child will be completely unique to them and dependent on their needs. For example, if your child is anxious about the appearance of braces, Invisalign or lingual braces might be a good choice.

If they’re okay with the look of braces, ask your pediatric dentist about ceramic. Be aware that ceramic is slightly less durable than metal and may crack, so if your child is very active, it might not be the best option for them.

Traditional braces are common in Las Vegas and are the easiest to take care of. If your child is active in sports, consistent with dental hygiene, and doesn’t mind the look of braces, traditional is the way to go.

Are There Other Benefits to Metal Braces?

Metal braces are the best choice if your child has a severe misalignment of their teeth or jaw. This type of braces gives the orthodontist more versatility in the treatment plan. For example, to treat severe overbites or underbites, rubber bands are used to attach the top and bottom jaw together and gently correct the alignment.

Other types of braces lack the hooks necessary to attach the rubber bands. As such, they can’t be used for correcting jaw alignment.
